Influence of different types of noise on sentence recognition in normally hearing adults

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze speech perception in normally hearing adults when listening silence and with different types of noise. Methods: 40 individuals both sexes, aged 18 45 years, participated the study. Speech was assessed Lists Sentences Portuguese test, without a competing noise speech-spectrum, babble, cocktail party A mixed-effects linear regression model 95% confidence interval were used. Results: subjects’ performance worse three than silence. When comparing noise, differences found all combinations (speech-spectrum X speech-spectrum party, babble party), followed by party.
